We’re not going to lie, this doesn’t make our activewear sound very sexy (maybe it’s all about the delivery) but we’re pretty happy about it. Building a sustainable brand isn’t easy. With tighter margins and turnover, committing to a sustainable path is an even loftier goal, but one the team here at Capital feels obligated to do. We’re proud to announce we are now a member of 1% for the Planet.
1% for the Planet is a global organisation that connects pounds and people to accelerate smart environmental giving (the founder also started Patagonia, who consistently strives for sustainability within clothing ). As an annual member, we advise on giving strategies, certify donations and help amplify the network’s impact. By contributing 1% of total annual sales to grassroots environmental groups, we are working towards real change. This is, of course, an excellent development towards our sustainability goals, and navigating an eco-friendly route that has our communities value at the heart of each purchase.
As always, we’ll continue to update you about our Sustainability Journey, and if you want to learn more about the 1% for the Planet, and the organisations we'll be donating to, scroll below.
WHY DO WE SUPPORT?
We do this because our precious planet really needs our help. The scale of environmental challenges we face is vast, from climate change to micro-plastic pollution.
The need for more funding and for advocates working for solutions is real and pressing, but there is a problem. Globally, giving to environmental causes constitutes only 3% of total charitable giving - and only 3% of this comes from businesses. That’s where 1% for the Planet comes in. It connects businesses, consumers and non-profits, empowering all of us to drive big, positive change.

WHERE DOES THE 1% DONATION GO?
The 1% for the Planet environmental non-profit partners work to advocate, conserve, steward, educate and activate to create a healthy, vibrant future for our planet. We are committed to building support for the essential work being done by our non-profit partners within the six core issue areas: climate, food, land, pollution, water, and wildlife.
The 1% for the Planet initiative checks every box— no really, if you purchase something from us between now and 6 months time, we’ll ask you to vote which non-profit environmental group to donate to.
We'll update you on this page to the non-profit organisations we donate to.
